With the help of various aids and tools, experience how people with low or impaired vision view the world. Susan Tully and Edith Rabone will lead an interesting afternoon of interactive learning about Tilly Aston and how she changed the lives of the visually impaired. Enjoy afternoon tea and a chat afterwards. Donations welcome to Tilly Aston Project, part of the Carisbrook History Society.

Attend an informative talk on Carisbrook’s historic figure, Tilly Aston, by researcher Susan Tully at the Tilly Aston Memorial. Susan will discuss Tilly’s origins, childhood, family life, and adventures in Carisbrook. Readings from Tilly Aston’s work will be recited by Edith Rabone.

Welcome to the 2017 Words in Winter Central Goldfields Victoria website and blog for all the events and latest updates on this coming festival season. This year the theme is “Origins” and runs from Friday 4th – Sunday 20th August. For the first time, Maryborough, Dunolly and Carisbrook will be joined by Pyrenees town Avoca, with an event or two to inspire in the wonderful new Avoca Arts and Gardens Precinct/Gallery 127 at the newly rescued Avoca Railway Station complex. With more than a dozen events planned, this season promises inspiration in the cold weather with cosy fireside evenings for all ages, exhibitions, performances, readings, and much more to warm up this winter.
