Sat 4th – Sat 25th August 2018 – Oceanarium Installation & It Takes a Child to Grow a Village Exhibition – Central Goldfields Art Gallery

Dive into the undersea world created by Karen Richards and Sue Ferrari, of mysterious sea creatures from the southwest coast of Victoria. Wearing a special head torch, visitors can roam this deep sea underworld created in machine embroidered and knitted forms. Gallery installation partners with Central Goldfields Library. Funded by Regional Centre for Culture 2018, see the tiny ceramic villages created under the direction of regional artist Ann Ferguson, by the small hands of kindergarten children, which visitors can arrange into stories of community and cultural possibilities for young families in the region. (Runs until 2nd September 2018)

Fri 4th – Sun 20th August 2017 – “JORG Schmeisser 1942 – 2012 Exhibition” – Possum Gully Fine Arts Gallery

JORG Schmeisser retrospective of etchings varying between text, image, anecdotal, scientific and diary style observations, depicting detail from places he visited during his life. A distinguished artist, he studied at Hamburg Fine Art Academy 1960’s era, and later headed the Printmaking Workshop at Australian National University Canberra School of Art in1970’s. An important and influential printmaker.

Experience personal tales of origin told around the bonfire, guest speakers, curated exhibition based on the concept of Origins, historical displays, art and mixed media. Mark Twain visited Maryborough and famously quipped about it being a railway station with a town attached. This symposium will feature songs written by his contemporary Stephen Forster within the cosy fireside Melba Lounge.

Attend an informative talk on Carisbrook’s historic figure, Tilly Aston, by researcher Susan Tully at the Tilly Aston Memorial. Susan will discuss Tilly’s origins, childhood, family life, and adventures in Carisbrook. Readings from Tilly Aston’s work will be recited by Edith Rabone.

Last year saw a wonderful range of winter events take place in the Central Goldfields region. Below is the programme for 2016.  We thank all those who helped create the wonderful range of events last year.

Innovative exhibition of works of author and illustrator Renee Treml’s Random House 2014 publication “The Great Garden Mystery”.  Gallery partners with Maryborough Regional Library for this popular event for all ages.
